I am a woodturner and produce a range of items, from household fruit bowls and salad bowls to purely art pieces, and most things in between.
I am 20 years old and was born and brought up in Edinburgh, which is where I still live now.
I am a trained Tree Surgeon and previously worked for an Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor.
I have been woodturning for about 3 years and am completely self-taught.

I picked up woodturning while I was still at school, but it was only once I left that I began to fully learn and understand the proper techniques and aesthetics associated with it. I am completely self-taught and I feel this has helped me get to the level I am at now, as I have had to learn from all my mistakes. As a trained Tree Surgeon I have a good knowledge and understanding of wood and its different features and characteristics. This is something that I apply every time I turn a piece on the lathe. Whenever I produce a new turning, whatever it may be, I always try and show off the wood to its fullest. It is such a beautiful medium and every single bit is unique. My designs are usually simple and will often change to take into account the individual features of each piece of wood. I sometimes add colour to my pieces, but only do so when I feel it will enhance the natural beauty of that particular piece of wood.
