I would describe my work as abstract. The paintings are non representational, taking no conscious point of reference. The work is mainly concerned with the interaction of colour, tone and texture which gradually evolves to create a definite mood. Even in abstract painting tonal colour can conjure a sense of space and even reality, I deliberately aim for this in my work. I try to make the paintings evocative, visual memories or reactions to places and events that have had an impact on my life.
