I am interested in developing the tension within the head to the space around – to create a barrier between the image and the viewer, sometimes drawing the viewer in and at other times holding them at bay. The images are slowly built up and then almost obliterated before being brought back which gives a further physical depth to the heads – a more sculptural, iconic strength.
