I am currently in my third year studying Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art.
I am an observational artist, reflecting or reacting to the world that surrounds us. Both the world that we have created and and that of which we call nature.
I feel art should be something that flows and is almost an extension of the self, the artist a passage or a medium between reality and the work. It should retain your attention and plant itself somewhere in the back of your mind, drawing you back again, like a drug. Something that you wish to see or feel again.
Painting is a language I want to learn. Something that speaks with colour, line, marks, energy, texture, space, light. Anyone can listen regardless of time or place, and it is it’s tradition and physicality, that it is essentially the outcome of a human presence, that keeps it alive.
In a sense, to me art is a method of passively playing with the world, with peoples minds and emotions. It is about exploring, getting lost, always changing. Always moving. It is about being human.
